Fortunately, the zombie that had noticed Gary was close enough that he could just kill it and hide in a row of cars before the others saw him. He tightened his grip on his scalpel and dashed forwards, effortlessly killing the slow moving fiend by driving the makeshift weapon deep into its heart. The zombie's now lifeless corpse began to stumble over, but but Gary managed to grab ahold of it and carry it with him as he ducked behind a row of cars. He sat the body down gently next to a blue Mitsubishi and listened to the sound of the shuffling feet and sad moans that filled the air around him. They didn't stop moving aimlessly about, yet after a few minutes it became apparent that the other zombies hadn't seen him dispatch their shambling brother. It seemed Gary's quick thinking had saved him again.
It took some effort to get the scalpel back out of the the zombie he had stabbed, but it soon came out... broken with the tip still embedded in the flesh of his fallen foe. "Shit..." Gary whispered as he quietly tossed the now useless piece of metal away. He was now completely defenseless, one false move would easily seal his demise. In an instant Gary's plan of escape became purely stealth based. He was too exhausted, under-equipped, and just plain old to deal with this many undead at once in direct combat. After deciding that it would be best to move quick to minimalize the chance of being discovered, he began walking down the row of cars he was in and into the next one. By paying attention to the directions the noises came from, he was able to avoid the zombies and get to his car. Just as he was about to enter, however, he caught a glimpse of the entrance to the floor below him. It was empty from what he could see and from there Gary could leave the hospital on foot. "Driving a car would be fairly impractical with 90% of the streets crowded with wrecked and abandoned vehicles... hmmm... On the other hand there may be countless zombies just out of sight below me..." The moans picked up again and Gary could tell it was only a matter of time before they found him. He had to make a decision... now.
