Chapter #4

Bad signs and good signs...

by: evil dude Author IconMail Icon
It had been a few minutes since Frank had decided to go check out the nearby sporting goods store and by now the quietness was starting to get to him. He started to hum a soft tune to himself as he walked down the (hopefully) empty hallway. The eerie silence was the last of his worries though as the area in front of him seemed to get more messy, damaged, and...bloody with each step he took. Frank began fingering his weapon as he hurried along. He decided to hum a bit louder, careful to keep his voice somewhat low in case any of those things were nearby, but quickly stopped right before he got to the store when he noticed something written on the glass window of a nearby jewelry store:

"Help me"

It was written in blood and the end of "me" was smeared down along the glass all the way to the bottom. It must have also been at least a few days old as the blood was dried and starting to peel. Frank took in this disturbing scene slowly and it was a few seconds before he managed to speak again. "Jesus..." He was deeply unerved now and a bit frightened too. This little sign wasn't fresh and it was entirely possible that whatever had occured here had happened long enough ago that there was no remaining danger...still, it was unsettling to find. Frank pulled his gun out of its holster and pointed it ahead aimlessly as he slowly walked on. Finally, he had made it to the front of "Bret and Chad's sports emporium." The outside looked nice enough with the windows intact, the interrior mostly undamaged, and not a drop of blood to be seen. "Guess I'll head on in." Frank said with as much bravery as he could muster. The inside was quite plesant, in fact it was even better looking then the outside. There were rows upon rows of basketballs, footballs, baseballs, soccerballs, and even a few balls for less popular sports such as rugby and polo. The shelves were all lined with hockey sticks, baseball bats, and several other types of fine sports equipment. Towards the the back of the store were T-shirts for sports teams Frank had never even heard of along with things like pads and hockey masks that could give Frank some protection if he needed it. After seeing all of this Frank started to feel a little more safe and was able to regain some of his confidence. He then began to wonder what he should look at first. This place was fairly large compared to most of the other nearby stores and he didn't want to waste too much time here.
