Chapter #5

Two guys playing on the bench

    by: tgcaps977 Author IconMail Icon
I glided through the vibrant chaos of the mall, my small, five-year-old form weaving effortlessly through the throng of shoppers. The humans were a fascinating mix of predictability and quirks, their daily routines ripe for a touch of mischief. After my delightful meddling with Ethan and his mother, my curiosity burned for another chance to reshape reality. My gaze settled on two young men lounging on a sleek metal bench near a bubbling fountain, their attention glued to portable gaming consoles. The air hummed with the faint chiptune melodies and laser-like sound effects spilling from their devices.

The guy on the left, Jake, had short, messy brown hair poking out from under a worn hoodie, his jeans frayed at the knees. He hunched over his console, fingers hammering the buttons with a scowl of concentration. The guy on the right, Cody, was slimmer, his black hair pulled into a short, slightly messy ponytail. He wore a faded band t-shirt, loose cargo pants, and scuffed sneakers, his posture relaxed but focused as he navigated his game with deft precision. I edged closer, my tiny shoes silent on the tiled floor, and caught their conversation.

“Man, Cody, why do you always pick female characters?” Jake asked, his eyes flicking to Cody’s screen, where a character in a shimmering, gem-encrusted gown twirled through a digital battlefield. “Every game—sorceress, rogue, star pilot—it’s always a girl.”

Cody smirked, not looking up. “Because, Jake, female characters get the coolest outfits. Look at this.” He tilted his console, revealing a warrior in a flowing, iridescent cloak with intricate silver embroidery. “Her gear’s got style—elegant, flashy, unique. Male characters? Just boring chainmail or plain jackets. No vibe.”

Jake snorted, shaking his head. “You’re such a weirdo. It’s just a game, dude.”

Cody shrugged, his fingers still dancing across the controls. “Say what you want, but I’d rather stare at something that looks good for hours. Outfits matter, man.”

A grin spread across my face. Oh, Cody, you’re practically begging for a little reality tweak, I thought. His obsession with stylish designs was the perfect canvas for my next experiment. With a subtle snap of my fingers, I wove a transformation into the world’s fabric, ensuring only Cody would notice the shift, his mind caught in the delicious tension of his new reality.

In an instant, Cody’s appearance changed, though he remained male. His slim frame softened, gaining gentle curves—a narrower waist, slightly rounded hips, and a more delicate silhouette. His angular face transformed into something strikingly feminine: high cheekbones, a small, upturned nose, full lips, and long, fluttering lashes framing his dark eyes. His short ponytail unraveled, replaced by glossy, wavy black hair that tumbled past his shoulders, catching the mall’s fluorescent light. His t-shirt and cargo pants vanished, morphing into an elaborate lolita-style cosplay costume: a lavender dress with a fitted corset bodice that hugged his new curves, a wide, bell-shaped skirt layered with ruffles and delicate lace, and a satin ribbon tied at the waist with a large bow. A frilly headband crowned with a matching lavender bow sat atop his head, and his legs, now smooth and hairless, were clad in sheer white knee-high stockings. His scuffed sneakers became black heeled Mary Janes, their buckles gleaming. His nails, once short and uneven, were now manicured with soft pink polish, and a delicate silver bracelet adorned his wrist.

Cody’s mannerisms shifted as seamlessly as his appearance. He instinctively crossed his legs at the ankles, the motion smooth and practiced, his skirt fanning out across the bench. His grip on the console became lighter, almost dainty, his fingers moving with an elegant precision. When he laughed at a game moment, it was a soft, melodic chuckle that made him pause in surprise. Yet, his focus on the game didn’t waver—he was still racking up points with the same skill.

Then, Cody felt it. A strange sensation drew his attention downward. He glanced at his crossed legs, his eyes widening as he registered their smoothness. He shifted slightly, the stockings brushing against each other with a faint, silky whisper. His legs felt… different—soft, almost luxurious, like they’d been pampered for hours. He uncrossed and recrossed them, marveling at how sleek they looked, the stockings catching the light in a subtle sheen. It was unnerving, but also… nice? He shook his head, trying to focus, but the sensation lingered, a quiet thrill he couldn’t ignore.

His gaze drifted to the dress. The lavender fabric shimmered faintly, the ruffles perfectly arranged, the lace intricate and delicate. The corset bodice was snug, accentuating his new curves in a way that felt both foreign and flattering. He tugged lightly at the skirt’s hem, feeling the weight of the fabric, the way it swished with the slightest movement. It was so detailed—the kind of outfit he’d have admired on a game character. But wearing it? That was something else entirely. It felt… good, in a way that made his cheeks flush. The craftsmanship, the elegance—it was like he was living the aesthetic he’d always chased in games.

Cody’s thoughts spiraled. “What the hell?!” he muttered, his voice still his own but softer, with a lilt he didn’t recognize. He touched his face, his fingers brushing smooth, flawless skin and long lashes. His hair fell forward, and he instinctively tucked a wavy strand behind his ear, the gesture so natural it startled him. “Jake, dude, look at me! I’m in some frilly cosplay dress! And my face—my legs! This isn’t right!”

Jake didn’t even glance up, his thumbs mashing buttons. “Huh? Cody, you’re fine. That’s just your usual cosplay deal. Stop freaking out and finish this level, man.”

“Usual?!” Cody’s voice rose, tinged with panic. He gestured at himself, the bracelet jingling softly. “I don’t do cosplay! I was in a t-shirt and cargos, like, a minute ago! And my face—I look like a freaking model or something!”

Jake finally looked over, his expression mildly annoyed but unconcerned. “Dude, you’ve been obsessed with cosplay forever. That lolita dress is, like, your go-to. You’re always ranting about ‘aesthetics’ and ‘vibes.’ Chill, you’re winning.”

Cody’s jaw dropped, his manicured fingers clutching the console tighter. He knew he’d been a regular guy, just a gamer who liked cool character designs. But the world had rewritten itself, and everyone saw him as this cosplay enthusiast with a feminine face and a flair for elaborate outfits. He tried to argue, but his body betrayed him. He adjusted his headband, the bow settling perfectly, and smoothed his skirt with a practiced motion. “Okay, but this is insane,” he said, his hands fluttering expressively. “I mean, I look… kinda incredible, but still! This isn’t me!”

Jake snorted, eyes back on his game. “You always say you look incredible. That’s why you spend hours sewing these costumes. Now focus, or I’m gonna smoke you.”

Cody pouted—a reflex that felt alien yet instinctive—and turned back to his console. His smooth legs shifted again, the stockings’ silky texture sending a shiver through him. He couldn’t stop noticing how nice they felt, how the dress’s weight and the corset’s gentle pressure made him feel… put-together, almost confident. He caught his reflection in the fountain’s water, his feminine features framed by wavy hair, the lavender dress a perfect blend of cute and elegant. His heart raced—part panic, part reluctant fascination. Why did this feel so right?

As they played, Cody’s commentary slipped into new territory. “Oh, Jake, that combo was gorgeous! Did you see the sparkles?” he said, then winced at his own words. “Ugh, I mean… it was cool. Whatever.” But moments later, he was at it again: “This character’s cloak is everything. I bet I could recreate it with some velvet and LED trim.” He froze, horrified, but the idea of crafting that cloak was thrilling. His mind buzzed with visions of fabric swatches and stitching patterns, ideas he’d never entertained before.

Jake, oblivious, just nodded. “Yeah, you’re always planning your next costume. Bet you’re already sketching that cloak in your head.”

Cody opened his mouth to protest, but a new thought bubbled up. “Actually… velvet would be perfect. And if I added some silver embroidery…” He clapped a hand over his mouth, his cheeks burning. Since when did he know anything about embroidery? Yet, the idea of cosplaying that character, of bringing her outfit to life, made his pulse quicken. He glanced at his dress again, admiring the way the lace caught the light. Maybe… maybe this wasn’t so bad.

As they wrapped up their game, Cody’s protests softened. He stood, smoothing his skirt with care, the ruffles falling perfectly into place. He adjusted his headband, then his corset, each motion fluid and practiced. “Jake, I’m hitting the craft store later,” he said, his voice bright despite himself. “Need some lace and maybe some satin for a new project.”

Cody waved, his bracelet glinting. “No promises! Later!” He turned and walked off, his heeled Mary Janes clicking softly on the tiles. His stride had a confident, graceful sway, the skirt swishing with each step. He paused by a store window, catching his reflection again. His feminine face, the flawless dress, the smooth legs peeking from the stockings—it was still him, but… different. Better, maybe? He twirled slightly, the skirt flaring, and a small smile crept onto his lips. He was still aware something had changed, but the thrill of his new look, the allure of cosplay, was starting to feel like home.
