Chapter #7

Waking Up is Hard to Do

by: Wuff Fox Author IconMail Icon
Mara slept soundly that night, in fact far better than she usually slept while traveling. Usually she felt uncomfortable lying on the flat, hard ground, and would often awaken in the middle of the night just from how uncomfortable it was. It felt amazingly good to her, being able to just lie there in her makeshift bed and nod off as soon as her red-haired head hit the pillow.

She would have enjoyed her deep slumber much more however, if it weren’t for the bizarre dreams that plagued her that night. She found herself in an enormous larder, so big that it felt like a massive cavern and packed with enough food to feed an entire village for weeks. The elf couldn’t help but notice that each and every piece of food lining the shelves and stacked about the floor looked absolutely delicious, and felt that it would be a shame if she didn’t try just a bit of each thing.

Soon however, as her robe grew tight around her and her breathing grew heavy from girth she was starting to realize that she had gone from tasting to flat out cramming food into her face. She kept eating regardless, staining her clothing with all sorts of juices, sauces, and icing until her robes tore away completely, revealing her plump and naked body beneath.

The dreaming elf’s avatar gasped in shock at this point, but when she caught sight of her traveling companion Grungor cheering her on happily. At that point, all shame melted away and she renewed her gorging with even more vigor, only slightly aware that somebody else was watching as well. As she kept eating, kept growing even fatter, and kept gaining even more rolls of blubber the presence made itself even clearer as a giant, disembodied eye that watched her every move. Yet oddly Mara didn’t even slow as it gazed upon her with its shockingly crimson iris, nor when she was finally brought crashing down to her flabby bottom, as even though she was now immobile the food always seemed to be within reach.

Grungor was gone now, but the eyeball seemed to grow along with the once tiny elf’s weight as her flabby flesh spread across the floor, and then pressed against the walls and shelves. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of eating, even in her dream state, Mara had devoured every last scrap within the entire room. She also nearly filled the entire room, except for the space that was now taken up by the enormous eye. It glared at her naked, disgustingly bloated body, and the feeling of shame and exposure returned to her a thousand times over. She screamed as the eye stared at her, but was even more horrified to find that she didn’t recognize her own voice which had been distorted by tons and tons of fat. The eye seemed to glint while loud, mocking laughter filled the room.

Mara sat up suddenly in her bed, sweating more than usually, a chill running through her as she was frightened awake. It was morning now, the sun having just risen, and as she looked over her surroundings, she grew calm.

“It was only a dream…” She reassured herself, closing her eyes and sighing.

She put her hand to her chest… and then realized that something was off. Her chest felt… bigger than it used to be. She moved her hand down to her belly, and her blood ran cold with fright when it met the now curved surface of her paunch. She began to poke and grab at other parts of her body: the slight fat jiggling on her arms, her softer face and its double chin, her thickened thighs and plump ass.

Mara began to whimper at first, and then soon started to sob, “This can’t be… It was only a dream, how is this possible?”

Grungor, now noticing that the elf was awake ran over to her and pulled her close in a comforting embrace. When Mara felt the way her soft, doughy flesh pressed against his well trained muscles she pushed him away, shouting, “Don’t do that!”

“I’m sorry lass…” Grungor said, looking at the ground solemnly, “I tried to stop it, but…”

“Stop what? What happened to me!?” She yelled, shivering in a robe that was now a bit less baggy on her pudgy form.

“There was… well, I must warn yeh, but it’s gonna sound a bit odd, but there was this ooze… y’know, not unlike some of tha’ ones you’d find about caves and forests like this and such… But the thing was actin’ funny… it went straight for ya’ while you were asleep! I tried to stop it, but the old beggar lady we ran into, she held me still with a blade to my throat as it… And you must understand, she poisoned the hares so that you couldn’t wake… but the slime… the slime, it went into your mouth…” He shifted on his feet, noticeably uncomfortable as he recalled the disturbing sight, “I’d never seen quite anything like it…”

Mara sat still for a moment, her sobbing becoming less violent as she held her head in her hands. She was thinking, trying to determine what could be done, “I guess you were right Grungor… that crone couldn’t be trusted… But at least I think I know what she did to me…”

Grungor scratched his head, his furry eyebrows raising a bit on his forehead in interest, “Y’do, eh…? Something you learned from your studies then…?”

She nodded, grimacing as even that felt different with her slight neck pudge and new chin, “Yes… it’s something that ooze creatures like that can be made to do by some of the more powerful mages… it’s called by some ‘Forced Ingestion’, they can control the slime and…” She put her hand on her rounded belly once more, sniffling.

Grungor shook his head, sighing, “Now this is why I dun like magic ta’ much… so is there anything that yeh can do Mara…? Anything I can help with…?”

Mara thought a bit, then nodded slowly, “Yes. I can try to… force the creature out of me with my spells…”

She closed her eyes now and put both of her hands on top of her sagging belly. She started to mutter to herself in an ancient tongue as a light blue glow surrounded her hands. Her eyebrows furrowed in deeper concentration now as she stopped chanting and started grunting, visibly using a great deal of effort in order to try to expel the creature. Finally, after a few minutes and no result, the blue aura dissipated and she pulled her hands away from her stomach, panting while a bit of sweat ran down her forehead.

“It’s no use…” She sighed, “The thing… inside me is too powerful to extract with my magic. I’m still learning even some of the basics of sorcery. But we should find somebody who can get it out and soon…”

“Why do yeh say that lass…?” Grungor asked, a look of concern appearing on his face as he noticed one of worry on Mara’s.

“Because this spell that the beggar woman used on the slime… it could still be in effect…” The look of worry intensified, mixed with visible disgust now, “She could still control it, even while it’s inside. The fact that it’s spread to the rest of my body already makes me fear that this is indeed the case. And if she has control of the slime… maybe she has control of me as well.”

Grungor didn’t like the sound of that at all. He had seen magic do many wicked things in his long years of life, and one of his least favorite was when it turned friends against each other.

“Well then, we should head off immediately. I’ll pull out tha’ map, let you decide which course of action to be best…”
