You awake to find yourself seated in a chair in front of a computer. Feeling very groggy you stand up and look around, only to discover that the rest of the room is dark. Looking back at the computer you see a pair of 30 inch monitors displaying a picture screensaver. Most of the pictures seemed to have Rita Beaufield, the game developer, in them.
You stumble around the room in search of a light switch. Once you find one you turn it on and notice that you are in a stranger's bedroom. Two of the four walls appear to be floor to ceiling windows. Going over to one wall of glass you look open the blinds and see the lights of a strange city. From the looks of it, you are in a tall building.
Turning back around you examine the room more closely. On one wall is the computer desk, a dresser and a closet door. The other wall features what looks like another dresser, a bookshelf, two paintings and a mirror. The top of this dresser has a bunch of framed photographs on it.
Going over to the photos you notice that again, Rita Beaufield seems to feature in many of them. One of them even has what looks like her graduation photo.
"This has got to be the strangest dream I've ever had!" you think to yourself.
Picking up the apparent graduation photo you hold it in your hand and look at the smiling face of a beautiful woman. Her wavy brown hair resting gently on her shoulders as her deep brown eyes and smiling, perfect grin create an appearance of pure happiness. Something then catches your eye. Looking up you see the reflection of that same woman, a bit older but none the worse for wear, staring back at you from behind a pair of glasses.
You contort your face into various looks of shock, surprise and embarrassment and are dismayed when Rita's reflection follows suit.
"Oh my God!" you blurt out in Rita's voice before collapsing onto the bed.
You then notice that Rita's body, your new body, feels slightly tired. The softness of your bed draws you closer to the brink of sleep.
