You are walking down the street when an old woman calls to you from a space between buildings. You look around carefully, thinking it may be a trap, but there is nowhere for anyone to be hiding so you walk up to the old woman. She tries to sell you magic trinkets and potions and you freak out, “What kind of an idiot do you think I am? There is no such thing as magic! And I am not interested in your junk and poison! Get out of here you old hag!” And with that you upset her display.
She does not start to pick thing up right away, but stares at you speaking in a different language. You laugh at her for not cursing at you in English, but as soon as she is finished she speaks plainly enough. “I was not cursing AT you fool! I was putting a curse ON you. From now on you will live many lives in many ways. Sometimes you may have a choice in how you act, others you will not, but you will no longer have a choice in WHO you are. Perhaps after you have learned the lesson of a thousand lives, you may be more charitable!”
You laugh at her as you walk away. She was just a crazy old loon after all!
