Chapter #3

The Fortune's strength needs improving

Another school day had come to an end and Chie Satonaka was on her way out with her best friend Yukiko Amagi by her side. The two were chatting up one of their usual conversations when suddenly Chie was a bit taken back as she heard Naoto Shirogane call out to them.

The two girls paused an waited for the younger detective girl to reach their location. Naoto thanked them for waiting and surprisingly asked if she could speak with Chie alone. While Chie was a bit confused Yukiko caught on by Naoto's posture and vocal tone that it was perhaps something personal so she excused herself adding in that she would give Chie a call later once things at the inn cooled down.

Chie understood and nodded before turning her attention over to Naoto. The blonde tomboy couldn't help but wonder what was on the blue-haired girl's mind. Usually Naoto went to Souji when she needed to talk in private about something. Chie was sure there was nothing going on between the two and perhaps Naoto found he was the easiest to talk to, after all she herself had done the same many times in the past.

But this time Seta had already left with Yosuke, apparently Hanamura had talked Nanako's "Big Bro" into helping out at Junes the night before...yet again...

Well regardless she would at least hear out Naoto though Chie wasn't sure how much help she'd actually be to whatever may be on Naoto's mind.

"So what's up, Naoto-kun?" she asked casually, best to start on the right foot.

Naoto responded by asking if Chie could take a brief walk with her down toward the park area of Inaba. Shrugging with a bit of smile on her lips Chie agreed and the two were off...

Later now resting on a park bench Chie repeated her question.

With a sigh Naoto removed her cap for a moment before running a hand through her locks of hair. A moment later the cap was back on and when the younger girl turned her vision over to Chie the blonde was a bit startled when she noticed a bit of a blush creeping on Naoto's cheeks.

Chie's mind nearly when into panic mode right then and there. She had heard the rumors some students loved telling about her and Yukiko's relationship...but those were completely false at least on her end anyway. Now she found herself sitting next to another girl, on a park bench away from anyone's eyes, who had sighed just before showcasing a bit of blush directed straight at her!

Was Naoto really? Maybe that's why her relationship with Souji had stayed on friendly terms, was she instead interested in...

Chie was on the verge of collapsing from mental fatigue.

"Will you train me, Chie-Senpei?"

Naoto's words came to her so suddenly Chie actually found her brain having to take a moment to reboot. Said moment later Chie wiped the sudden cold sweat from her brow before blinking a bit at Naoto. Had she just her heard right?

Naoto herself was a tad confused why Chie looked as if she had just recovered from a panic attack, she was the one that was embarrassed so why was her senpei looking so exhausted?

"Chie-senpei, are you alright?" Naoto asked softly, her blush now gone.

Chie nodded and explained that she was totally fine but in returned asked Naoto to repeat her previous question, anything to put this very awkward moment behind them both.

"Of course. I wish to ask...if you will train me?"

"Train?" Naoto nodded, why was this such a secret request wondered Chie.

"You see while my Persona has great magical potential, the same can not be said for it's offensive and defensive properties. Yes it is strong but it is certainly lacking when compared to yours, Kanji's, or some of Senpei's numerous Personas."

It was true what Naoto had said that much Chie agreed on.

"I wish to ask if you could perhaps train me for a certain amount of time. My assumption is that if my own physical strength increases so will that of my Persona."

Again Naoto brought up an interesting if not very true point. Her and Kanji's Personas were incredibly strong and that had to be because of their own personal strength, right?

"Um sure I guess I can help you out, Naoto-kun." Chie stated with a goofy smile.

"Ah thank you. I did not wish to ask you this in front of the others for fear of what they may think of me..."

Naoto turned away until she felt Chie's hand press on her jacket shoulder.

"No way we wouldn't have teased you, I personally would have kicked anyone who did." Chie smiled proudly while Naoto merely chuckled briefly and rather softly. It did seem like something Chie would do and Naoto was glad the older girl was very understanding of her situation.
