It didn't take too long for Felix to find the elephant sized dragon ruby colored dragon, well it was the height of an elephant, but much longer because of the tail and neck. Felix expected the dragon to be on all fours, pacing furiously and growling and roaring at him, but the dragon was just lying on the ground. It was lying on his stomach in a position that roughly looked like a C with it's head looking away.
Felix hoped that the dragon was sleeping and that he'd be able to sneak up to the dragon and just leave the meat, but when the door slammed, the dragon turned its head around. The hard scales on the ground scratched the floor as it dragged it's neck till it looked straight at Felix. Felix became frightened once more and didn't move a muscle for the longest time. The dragon just stared at Felix with hatred deep in it's angry eyes. However, the hate wasn't as ferocious as before.
Felix began to wonder why the dragon didn't seem to hate him as much as before. Felix looked around the cell, it took much effort tear his eyes away from the dangerous and savage dragon, but when he was able to do so, he saw that all the meat he threw around was still on the ground and the water bowl was still full. "It never ate or drank yesterday. It's weak and exhausted. It probably wasted all it's energy acting so savagely and since it didn't eat or drink anything..." Felix thought to himself, "This is better for me anyway. It might be too weak to attack me. I might not be injured this time. I still better keep an eye on it, though."
Felix slowly pushed the cart closer and the dragon growled as Felix approached. The dragon curled its lips upward and barred its teeth as it growled. The growl was weak, but its teeth still scared Felix. Felix saw the line on the ground which was the farthest the dragon could reach. Felix stayed over his side of the line and set the meat over the line. Felix kept his eyes on the dragon, but the dragon didn't make a move, it just growled a few yards behind the line.
When Felix finished with the pile, he backed away from the dragon with the cart. Felix didn't dare turn his back to the dragon. As Felix backed away. The dragon's eyes focused on the meat and tried to push itself up, but it didn't have the strength and just fell back on its stomach with a grunt. The dragon stretched it's neck as far as it could, but it wasn't close enough to the line to just stretch its head and get the meat. It was still too far away. The dragon stuck out its long snake tongue, but still couldn't reach the meat. The dragon struggled, but still couldn't reach.
Felix stopped in his tracks and watched the dragon struggling. The dragon, though much larger than himself, looked so weak and helpless. Even though the dragon had tried to kill him, Felix still felt a little sorry for it. "It shouldn't have worn itself out. It's its fault, not mine," Felix told himself.
"That's not what Lord William would think. If the dragon dies, he'll blame me and I'll be sent to death," Felix argued with himself. He knew he was right. Lord William wouldn't care if it was the dragon that staved itself. He'd still blame Felix and being a slave, Felix had no rights and could be put to death with the snap of a finger. "Shit!" Felix cursed under his breath before leaving the cart and walking towards the pile of meat.
The tip of the dragon's tongue was still two feet away from the meat and it was too focused on the meat to notice Felix. However, when Felix picked up the first piece of meat, the dragon looked up at Felix with hatred again. Felix took a few steps to the tongue and crouched down holding out the meat for the tongue. The dragon only brought its tongue in its mouth again and growled at Felix. "I know you hate me, just take the meat. I'm handing it to you," Felix said.
The dragon just looked past Felix and tried to reach the pile behind Felix, but still couldn't reach the pile. Felix tried to place the meat on the dragon's tongue, but the tongue retracted once more and the dragon growled. "What the hell it wrong with you?" Felix growled back, "Just take the meat or you're going to starve!" The dragon stared at Felix for a long time and Felix threatened, "You need my help to get fed, if you don't let me help you, you're going to starve."
Another emotion entered the dragon's eyes along with the hatred. The other emotion was a sort of sadness, a defeated and failure kind of look along with the hatred. The dragon stretched out its tongue and Felix was able to put the meat on the dragon's tongue. The tongue wrapped around the meat and pulled it in its mouth. The dragon chewed and growled with hatred as it did so. This process continued until the dragon finished all its food and Felix even picked up the meat from the other day to feed the dragon. The dragon seemed to both hate and love eating the meat Felix gave it. Felix couldn't understand why the beast would feel such a way. Felix was just glad he wasn't injured from the experience.
Later that afternoon, Felix was ordered to feed the dragon once more. Felix got the cart ready and pushed it down into the dungeons. When he reached the right hallway, he could see soldiers run out of the cell from a distance. They shut the down and one man yelled, "Is Lord William insane? We can't tame such a beast for him!"
The second man replied, "Every creature his its breaking point."
"But were dealing with a fire dragon, here! Don't you realize what that it?" The first man questioned.
"I think we'll be able to tame an infant dragon," the second man replied.
"But fire dragons are the most ferocious of the dragons. They are the dragon equivalent to Spartans!" the first man argued, "Fire dragon love war and bloodshed and they are taught to never break. They kill or abandon the weaklings, even it it were their own child. Though this is an infant, it will never give in or break."
Felix didn't here the rest of the conversation, because by then, they had walked past him and were far enough down the hall. One of the guards by the door smiled sadistically and informed Felix, "The dragon's all worked up now, good luck..."
The guard opened the door and Felix walked in. The dragon was pacing around the cell furiously and snarled and growled. When the door slammed behind Felix, the dragon snapped its head in Felix's direction. The dragon opened its mouth, ready to roar at Felix...
