Zephyr woke up in his home. Not much of a home, but home none the less. Light filtered through the dirty windows. His sister walked in. She was 12, small and innocent despite everything. "The fighting has to stop Zeph, you can't do this forever!" She had short black hair and a cute innocent looking face. "Jess, I'm sorry. But if I stop we can't eat." He glances at himself in the mirror. A jagged scar runs across his left eye, a gift from the night his new life began. Jessica looked back at him, tears filling her eyes. "But, Zeph what if you get killed?" She was the only person who he didn't hurt now. He pushes everyone away, thinking he will just get more pain. "Jess, It'll be ok. I'm too tough to die." he gets up and wraps his arms around his sister. "I wish we still had Mom and Dad." She says hugging tightly to her last remaining family. "I do too but we have to get by." Zephyr checked his watch. "Bedtime Jess. You have school tomorrow." Jess pulled away and walked to her room, which was just a cot and a shelf. "Why don't you go to school Zeph?" She asked using the pet name that only she could get away with. "I can't go back. I wasn't there for long enough to pass." She walked into her room and closed the door. Zephyr looked around his abandoned house. He snuck in and stole from a few camps and made this a home. He thought about his usual things. Food, the next match, and revenge. 10 years ago his parents were murdered in front of him by his only friend. He carried his 2 year old sister out of the house and ran, getting slashed across the eye with the knife that stole his parents from him. At 7, this left him hollow. His friend was 12, the same age his sister is now. He would be 22 today. At 17, Zephyr is training to fight, so nothing will ever be taken from him again. He found an underground fighting ring, $200 for a win, $50 for a loss. He feeds himself and his sister with that money. The next day.......
