"Alright," Yosuke whispered, "We made it in. Looks like we're in one of the common rooms."
The group recognized the room in an instant. The normal investigations team had met here during the rare occurrences when Yukiko was too busy to leave the inn. The place was a small, hidden spot; one that was usually empty due to its awkward position at the back end of the establishment. It contained the typical Amagi Inn furnishings: a pair of richly-decorated oak armoires, three soft loveseats embroidered with ancient Japanese art and small silver table laden with overseas fashion magazines. Other than the light being lit, the room looked virtually untouched.
"Looks empty in here, guys." Kanji said, breathing a deep sigh of relief.
"Aww..." Teddie whined, "I was hoping we had crawled into Chie-chan's room!"
"Quiet down," Yosuke snapped. "We just got in. Don't go messing it all up by overexciting yourselves."
"Okay, okay. But what should we do now, Sensei?" Teddie asked, turning towards Souji.
Souji stood silently, glaring aimlessly ahead as he always did when faced with a decision. There were more than a few ways the group could tackle the situation, but as he thought about it, he came to realize that traveling as a pack of four was unfeasible. Only a small group, perhaps two at the largest, could even stand a chance. He explained his reasoning to his three cohorts. They agreed with his conclusion, surrendering to his greater wisdom.
"Alright then," Yosuke began, "In that case, Souji and I will form the first group. Kanji, you and Ted can go on your own. Just don't anything stupid, okay?"
Kanji gave a nervous nod.
"Good. Souji and I will take the east hallway. You two take the west one. We'll meet back here in half an hour."
With that settled, the two groups turned and parted.
