This choice: Kelos lies and says she didn't wear it. • Go Back...Chapter #9Kelos lies and says she didn't wear it. by: Lil'lily "No, I didn't wear it!" Kelos insisted.
"I know you're probably scared, but this amulet is a powerful magic item. If you wore it, we need to get you help soon or..."
"I didn't wear it!" Kelos again insisted, cutting off her sister.
Ori sighed. "Very well, if you say you didn't wear it, I'll have to take your word for it. I just hope that if you did wear it, you'd tell me so I can help you."
Kelos suddenly felt very guilty. While Ori would grow up to be a selfish, power hungry woman trying to usurp the throne, as a child, she was very kind and caring. Surely, this Ori would help her. A part of her wanted to tell the truth here, but even if she did sincerely try to help, it could change everything. She took a deep breath. "I'm fine, Ori. Please don't worry about this." She then turned and headed towards the door. As she did, Ori hugged her from behind.
"You don't have to deal with this alone. Whether you're my little brother or little sister, I'll help you be who you want to be."
"Thanks, Ori." Kelos replied, as the world faded away once again.
As the world faded back in, Kelos noticed a chill in the air. It must be winter, Kelos thought. At this moment, the time displaced prince realized two things, she was still a girl, and she was wearing a dress. Looking around, she saw she was in a hallway in the castle near her sister's room. Just what had she been doing?! She then noticed her hair, which had grown to her shoulders. Tugging on it, it was clearly her own hair. Memories began to enter her mind. Ori had told their parents! Of course she had, Kelos realized. What else could she have done? But in that case, why was she still a girl? Surely Father would have insisted she change back.
"There you are, Cally!" Ori called out from behind. Kelos turned around to see her sister coming up. "I've been looking all over for you, little sis!" Ori said as she hugged Kelos. "We can't leave Mother and Father waiting. Today's the big day after all!"
"Big day?" Kelos asked.
"Don't tell me you forgot today of all days. It's been six months since you became a girl. The magic is getting to the point Xarlat is worried about not being able to change you back, so it's time to choose once and for all." She released Kelos from the hug, then grabbed her hand. "So let's tell Mother and Father if you're going to stay a girl or chance back into a boy."
Ori pulled Kelos along towards the throne room. As they headed there, more memories filled Kelos' mind of the past half a year. She had spend most of that time living openly as Princess Callithyia, which was what she'd have been named if she had been born a girl. Cally wasn't something Ori made it, it was actually her name all along! Sort of. This was not exactly how she remembered things, but all she had to do now was say she wanted to turn back. Though as her memories merged, she realized something, she didn't remember being as happy as Kelos in her original childhood as she was as Cally.
"Just tell mother and father your name," Ori said as she pulled Kelos into the throne room. Kelos nodded to her sister, and pulled her arm free from Ori's hand. She then approached her parents sitting on their thrones. "Mother, father, I have made my decision. I am..." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
