Nancy suddenly caught you staring at her and after a few seconds she reluctantly (so it seemed) excused herself from Lionel's company and walked over to where you were stood. "Hi Lara, can I help you with something?" She asked in a snarky tone.
You hesitated, then shrugged, figuring there'd be no harm in asking. "Actually... yeah, I was wondering why you were talking to Lionel? Normally you won't give someone like him the time of day. Or eye contact for that matter." You said.
Nancy frowned, then glanced back over at Lionel, throwing him a flirty smile. "Why wouldn't I be talking to him, he's such a cutie." Nancy said.
This caught you off guard. Even you wouldn't refer to Lionel as a "cutie", in fact no girl would, except maybe Melanie, one of the dorkier girls. As if on cue, Melanie then came into view, but instead of locking eyes on Lionel when she walked in, she instead seemed more interested in one of the more well-built, more attractive guys in school, a boy by the name of Dirk. Alas... the attraction obviously wasn't mutual. "Er... okay, if that's what floats your boat." You shrugged.
"How about minding your own business Lara... okay?" Nancy feigned a smirk, sounding more like her usual bitchy self.
"Whatever, go back to your boyfriend." You sighed, shaking your head and slamming your locker shut.
As Nancy walked off, you noticed Lionel looking at you in a very proud, even smug way. And his smirk grew bigger when Nancy started pawing at him. Meanwhile, Melanie's ogling of Dirk was getting more intense as well.
"This is just... bizarre!" You admitted, turning around and heading off to class.
