Brian jogged down the cycle path, listening to his music to keep himself in a steady rhythym. As he was reaching the halfway point of his run, his phone began ringing. As he pulled out the phone, bringing it up to press the call button, his foot caught on something, and he tripped, stumbling forwards. His hand reached out to steady himself on a tree, barely managing to grab it before he fell. Even then, his hand was scraped slightly. Standing still, panting, he turned to look at what he had tripped over.
Covered in dust was a disc-sized golden medallion. Brian picked it up, brushing off the dust to see several unusual symbols around the outside. Not able to fit it in any of his pockets, but wanting to examine it better when he got home, Brian put it around his neck and continued running, deciding to cut his run short to get back and examine the medallion.
He opened the door to his apartment. He had two roommates, Sara and Eric. Eric worked in a local bank, so would not be home right now. Sara was a fulltime streamer, using one of the empty rooms as her streaming room. She liked to cosplay the character she played on stream, so the rest of the apartment was often littered with half finished projects. Brian had a decision to make: he could make some food, check in on Sara or perhaps do some research on the medallion. Then again, the apartment was pretty untidy right now. He knew Sara wouldn't like him touching her projects, but he could tidy up some of the other clothes around the apartment.
