Inside the box, there was a rather plain looking ring. It was silver in color and when Jessica lifted it, there was a glint of blue.
The professor mused that there would be no harm in indulging a bit in such a simple gift. Idly, the woman turned the delicate band in her fingertips before slipping it on the middle finger of her left hand.
"A perfect fit... Perhaps I have a stalker or someone that is very lucky," Jessica said, holding her hand out to get a better look.
For a moment, the professor could have sworn that there was a warm glow emanating from the ring, but the woman put it off to the side of her mind as a figment of her imagination.
Instead of dwelling, Jessica decided that she should get back to her research. While graduate students could handle most of the grunt work, she still had to take an active role in her experiments.
With a subject like biology, there is no time to waste as there is always more to learn in a field that will continue to grow.
The young woman quickly found her way to her laboratory. The cool sterile environment sent a shiver down her spine, but the sound of a large crash drew her attention.
