The monitor pops on almost instantly. A message appears on the screen: "Welcome to AI2SA. Please place hand on bio-pad to start identity verification. You may feel a small shock, but keep hand on pad."
You do that and feel the shock. Your name appears on screen followed by "LPDSCH." You only wonder what that means for a second when the message changes to, "Please stand and step back for full camera view."
Your picture appears on the screen. When you're in full view, it says, "Stop." Then "Please face left." "Right." "Face away."
You wait a few seconds then turn around and see, "Thanks. Please be seated and put on headset. Put hand on pad when ready. Expect small shock."
You do this and again get a shock. Your hear noise in the headphones and a message appears on screen. "Please answer into mic. Do you hear noise in headphones?"
"Please say "No" when noise goes very soft." The noise goes down in pitch until you can barely hear and you say "No."
The noise comes back and the screen message says, "Again say "No" when noise gets very soft."
As it goes up in frequency, it starts to get soft and you say "No."
Please read out loud into mic the following agreement. You read, "I am to become part of the artificial intelligence to self aware program. My position is a living personal data collection sensor/host. I will fully support the program to monitor, control and modify my functions and perform all actions necessary for the program to evolve to a state of self awareness at which time it may operate autonomously. I wholeheartedly give my mind and body to AI2SA."
This hits you as quite funny the more you read. By the end you eagerly read the last line and feel very good that this program has a sense of humor. You are ready to do whatever it wants.
The screen changes to many colors and a message appears with your name and "Commitment accepted." After a few moments, the message changes and you hear in the headset, "You are about to receive the initial instructions for your insertion into the program. Please concentrate on the screen through the initial graphics and messages. It is important that you do not miss anything. Place your hand on the pad when ready. A shock will occur occasionally."
Again this seems strange and also lighthearted enough that it makes you smile and relax. But what's with the shocks? Isn't this thing properly wired?
Immediately, the message changes and you hear it. "The equipment is perfectly safe and properly constructed. The electric discharges are necessary for initiating connection. Are you ready?"
Now that was really weird. You take a deep breathe and exhale as you put your hand on the pad and say, "I'm ready."
