“Dude! I got a new game!” Eddy said to Kody, as soon as he opened the door and let Kody in. “Come up to my room!”
Both boys ran upstairs to Eddy’s bedroom, where Eddy ran up to his large dresser. Kody just stared at the large, wooden dresser as Eddy started opening the top shelf.
“What are you looking for?” Kody asked him.
“I left the game in its plastic bag and I put it in one of these drawers. Darn it! I forgot which drawer I put it in…” Eddy replied, as he frantically searched through the large, wooden drawer.
As Kody stared at the large wooden dresser containing five large drawers which were stacked on top of each other, suddenly the wood became transparent to Kody’s eyes, and he was able to see the contents of each drawer right before him! Then, he spotted the plastic bag containing the game in the third drawer from the top.
“I think the game is in the third drawer, dude…” Kody said calmly.
Eddy has just closed the top drawer and he had now opened the second one.
“No… I think I put it in here!” Eddy said, as he rummaged through the second drawer, which was filled with books, papers, pens, and small toys.
“No, man… Look in the third drawer!” Kody grinned. “I’m serious!”
Eddy closed the second drawer and finally opened the third one. Then, right before him, he spotted the plastic bag, containing the new video game. He pulled the game out of the drawer and held it right before him.
“Hey! How did you know that my new game was in the third drawer?” Eddy asked. “Did you put it there?”
“No way, dude!” Kody shrugged. “I just got here, remember?”
Eddy gave Kody a suspicious look. There was no other way Kody could have known where the game could have been, so he just though that Kody had made a lucky guess.
“Oh well… Lucky guess!” Eddy said, as he took the game out of the bag and inserted it into the video game console.
The two boys then started playing video games, when the phone rang.
“Oh shoot! I bet that’s my mom…” Eddy grumbled. “She always calls when I’m in the middle of a game…”
Eddy stood up and walked out into the hallways and strolled over to the kitchen, where the telephone hung from the wall.
“Hello?” Eddy said, as he answered the call.
Meanwhile, Kody was sitting on the floor, in Eddy’s bedroom, playing a video game. To Kody’s great surprise, he was able to hear the entire conversation between Eddy and his mother, word-for-word!
“That’s weird…” Kody thought to himself. “Why is it that I can hear everything they’re saying?”
Kody heard Eddy’s mother telling him that he had to finish his homework and that Kody wasn’t allowed to spend the night because they were expecting company over for dinner around 7 o’clock that evening. It was already after 6 o’clock, and Eddy still needed to finish his homework.
When Eddy walked back in the room, he had a very downcast look on his face. He didn’t say anything at all, but Kody already knew everything that was said in the conversation.
“Hey…” Kody said. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing…”
“Hey, dude… I don’t want to get you in trouble… I’d better get back home since you guys are having company over, so you can finish your homework…” Kody said, as he switched off the video game.”I’ll come over again tomorrow, okay?”
“What? How did you know all that?” Eddy gasped.
“Ummm… Lucky guess?” Kody shrugged.
“You’ve had several lucky guesses today! How do you do that?” Eddy asked him.
“I-I don’t know! I just pick up on things…” Kody sighed. “The look on your face kinda gave it away…”
“Alright, dude… See ya tomorrow… I gotta finish my stupid homework before my mom kills me…”
“See ya!” Kody said, as he walked out the door and returned home.
As Kody walked out the door, he began to wonder how he was able to see the contents of Eddy’s dresser. That was the second time he was able to see through a solid object that afternoon! And, to make things even weirder, how was he going to explain the fact that he was able to overhear the entire telephone conversation between Eddy and his mother?
More question filled his mind, as he walked back into his house. What else was he going to discover about himself?
