“This bozo won’t sell us any Pylene. Let’s get out of here,” you say to Spengler.
“Did you say Pylene”, the Ar-Kwan asks.
“Yeah, that’s right,” you answer. “But like you said, you have more than enough business, so we’re leaving.”
“I happen to have my hands on some surplus Pylene,” the Ar-Kwan responds. “ How much do you need?”
“We need thirty tons...and we need it now,” you reply. “We can pay in either OEA- or Guhl credits...or we can make an electronic transfer to your bank of choice.”
“Hah, my bank of choice”, the Ar-Kwan smirks. “I’ll take it all in Guhl credits...it seems they’re gonna win the war.”
“Sure, whatever,” you say slightly perturbed by his comment. “How much do you want per ton?” you ask.
“Ten thousand Guhl credits per ton...that adds up to three hundred thousand Guhl credits,” he says taking another swing of his drink.
“Are you insane,” you counter. “That’s ten times the commercial rate. We’ll give you half that.”
“Good luck on finding any Pylene on this planet,” he says easily, sipping his drink again. “You guys are shit-out-of-luck...and my price is ten-thousand credits per ton.”
You realise bargaining with the Ar-Kwan will get you nowhere. And since you’re not spending your own money, you decide to pay him.
“Ok fine,” you reply. “Where do we pick up our Pylene?”
“Well, that’s the thing,” he hisses. “It’s held up in one of my camps in the jungle and we can’t fly in to pick it up...we’re gone have to drive in to get it. Rival factions have a network of anti-aircraft turrets that will shoot us down if we fly in.”
You realise that your stealth-ship could easily negotiate the anti-aircraft stations, but at the same time you cannot reveal the nature of your ship to the Ar-Kwan. You know he will sell the information to any willing buyer, especially since a ship like that is a very rare commodity...and if the Guhl learns of your presence, the mission is over.
