Your name is Mark and you're a thin, slightly effeminate, gay 17-year old, in your senior year in high school, and everyone knows you're gay, which is bad for you, because you're constantly bullied because of it. You don't have a boyfriend, but wish you could. And you only have one friend, a girl named Julie.
Over the last few months, you've developed a crush on one of the football players (Jason), but you wouldn't dare let him know it. Jason's the most homophobic of all the jocks and would likely kill you for just looking at him the wrong way. Despite that, you think he's a total stud and you fantasize about having sex with him.
On the way home from school (and after getting bullied once again, being pushed on the ground and called a "fag", nothing new there), you find something lodged under the exposed root of a gnarled tree. After pulling it out, you look at it and realize that it's a chunk of some kind of purple crystal. Amethyst, you believe its called. You look over your shoulder and see those guys who bulled you earlier approaching you. "Not again," you whine. "I wish those guys would just leave me alone." The crystal suddenly grows warm in your hand, startling you, and you watch incredulously as the bullies stop and then begin walking in a different direction, as if they hadn't seen you.
You look down at the purple crystal and wonder if it really had just granted your wish. Well, one way to find out.
