Telling Her About the Power

I looked down at the cat I had inadvertently turned my dog into. Guess I was going to have to watch what I say and avoid figures of speech from now on.

I decided I would have to tell the truth about things if I didn’t want them to change. Since I didn’t want to lose my power, I answered the woman’s question with, “I just found this bottle that contained a truth serum, drank it, and now everything I say is literally coming true.”

“What?!” she exclaimed. “But that’s not possible...” She trailed off, looking down at Patches the cat, obviously realizing that it was possible. Looking back up at me, she asked, “So what did you do to me? And why?”

I shrugged. “I tested the power on a tree, and my dog. I wanted to test a human next, and you happened to be jogging along. I said you looked and dressed like an Asian porn star.”

“Oh, my God,” she said. She took a deep breath, and then said, “Um, okay, so you’ve had your fun with me, right? Please, please just change me back.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Do you really want me to change you back? As far as I know, I can do anything. I could grant your wishes.”
