You wonder who was in here. You turn around and pick up the note book off the floor. You glance through it. It is all hand written and it has basic instructions on how to turn on the machine and operate it. It has a number of pages which list various experiments that the creator of the machine had tried. It seems that the machine is supposed to be a mind switching machine, you laugh to yourself, looks like a pile of garbage from a bad sci-fi show to you. You sit in one of the pods and read on. You see experiments of transferring person to person, person to animal, animal to animal.
At the end of some of the experiments various notes were highlighted the ones that stood out to you were:
- Do not excessively use the memories of the person you transfer too, the more you pull them up, the easier these memories are to access and the harder your memories become to access. Let your memories seat themselves into your new body after they are imprinted.
- Do not jump from body to body; try to return to your body because memories from each different body maybe transferred with each jump. Your original memories become weaker each time they are imprinted. Return to your body for a week or two to strengthen your original memories if you transfer bodies and original memories weaken.
- Be careful jumping into animal bodies, animals have limited memory access and instincts are very strong, the machine has a problem transferring all memories to simpler animals. Subjects in animals with simpler brains have problems accessing imprinted memories. Animals with complex brains are ideal, be careful to access your memories not the animals memories until your memories are seated, accessing animal memories may cause animals memories to come to surface and you may be overwhelmed by the animals original memories. In case of loosing subjects imprinted memories subject may need to transfer back to original body for a week or two to recover original memories
- Animals in human body utilize that human body's memories as well as their own memories. Animals will be disorientated at first, but the longer they are in human form the more of the host body's memories they will acquire. Most test subjects were quite cooperative in transferring back to their original bodies. The longer they are in human form the more they start believing they are that human. Further down the page a little warning: Animal subject #9 resisted being transferred back to original body. Claims it was really a human. Had to use force to get back into pod. Animal subject #9 not to be used for further research
There are many experiments, listed modifications to the machine problems and fixes until they stop half way through the notebook.
You keep reading away, you wonder what happened to the original people who owned the farm. Just then the pod door closes you jump up and the lights get bright. There is a brilliant flash of light. It feels like you are being ripped from your body by this light. Looking back you can see your body falling almost like a doll back into the seat with the notebook sliding out of your bodies seemingly lifeless hands. You try to go back, but can't. It feels like you are caught in a hot dry wind that is carrying you away. You see another figure ahead of you. Colliding with this silouett for a second you feel you are part of someone else, but the light pulls you through them. The sensation is so strange. It feels like the figure that collided with you took something of you with it and you took part of it. The light is so intense you can't see anything, but now you feel like your falling. Being carried down by the light for a brief instant you think you see another body, but it isn't yours.....
