Following Mary, Mark found himself in a large room full of people chatting in small groups. Gently taking his arm she guided him over to a group of people about Mark's age and introduced him to George, a stocky guy with long hair, who looked about Mark's age, or a little younger.
"George, this is Mark, he's new. Can you introduce him around? Maybe take him to one of your College and Careers things?" Mary said, then hurried off to greet another newcomer.
"Hi Mark," George said, putting out his hand. "I'm George, as Mary said. New here?" he continued, as the two shook hands.
"Yes, moved here in January when the new term started - research fellowship. Haven't really met anybody, except on campus, so thought I might make a few friends."
"You've come to the right place then - though there aren't too many of us here this morning, our College and Careers group is pretty big. I'm guessing you're single? Do you like...
