Shrunk with another Student

    by: Unknown
I was already tired. I didn't feel like writing or doing work for Mr.Duthie but I had to. Another student came by and was told to find a seat by an administrator. Mr.Duthie asked the student to write lines that were on the board. He groaned, searched through his red back pack that which gave color to the room and started writing the lines on the board. We were there for hours but finally we were done writing all of the lines on the board for about 100 times. We handed in our work and left. I couldn't help but walk alongside the student who was in detention with me, since the dark hallway was so creepy. I didn't understand why only a few lights were on when the place was already dark. "So, I'm guessing you don't come around here often?" The student said to me. I quickly turned my attention to him. "Uh, no not really, I don't usually get sent to attention." I said. "Yeah, no wonder I've never seen you around here, my name is Connor...and you are?" "Aidan." I simply replied back. "Nice name." He said with a smile. We walked through the hallways of the gymnasium. It was dark, quiet, the place felt hollow. The ac was a cold harsh wind that made my teeth shiver. I glanced over at Conner. He seemed some calm as he made his strides to the main building. But how? I mean yeah I did have a fear of the dark but how could he have such a steady walk? His presence was actually refreshing. It was like he was a light that I was carrying in the dark. I sighed in relief. "Hey, you ok?". I looked up and noticed that he stopped walking. "Uh yeah." I said suprised by his answer. "Ok good." He said with a smile. "Yeah, why'd you ask?" I questioned. "Well you were breathing really heavy, it actually scared me, I thought someone else was behind me." He said with a laugh. "Ah, I'm sorry, just being cautious." I said nervously. He took notice of how my demeanor changed. "Alright well let's keep going." He said. I nodded and turned to keep walking. Soon after, a huge bang was heard across the hallway. I yelped and grabbed Conner's arm. It was way too quiet. "Hey what gives." He said. "Sorry I just heard a noise-" I was interrupted by a few steps in the hallway. I held tighter onto Conner's. sleeve. Conner turned his attention to the noise as well. Click, Clack, Click, Clack. It was getting louder and louder. The noise grew and so did the darkness of the hallway. I shuddered as the steps echoed through the building, the noise being able to compete with an encore of clapping hands. Click, clack, clack. It went quiet. I began to stop my harsh breathing and relax my shoulders until I heard another bang. "AAAAAAAAAH!" I screamed. I quickly grabbed Conner's hand and ran out of the building. When we left the building and was in front of the main one we finally took a break to take a few breaths. "Geez, did you have to *pant* run that fast, you could have ripped my varsity jacket from how you were tugging it." Connor said as he catching his breath. "I'm sorry, I got scared and I couldn't just leave you there." I said equally exhausted. He stood up and looked at me. "You care about me huh?" He said with a smirk. "I- Well- Is that ok?" I said feeling a mixture of confusion and worry. "Of course it is." He said with a smirk. I relaxed and gave a small smile. "Oh crap." He said. "What is it?" I asked. "I left my gym bag." He said with a laugh. "We have to go back?!" I said feeling frightened by his nonchalant attitude and possibly having to go back to that scary old building. "Oh no, I left it in the boy's locker room, in the newer gym." He said. "Don't worry you don't have to walk with me there if you don't want to." I sighed knowing I wanted him to be safe. We walked to the new gym. Conner went to the locker room while I stayed outside of the gymnasium. "Got it!' He said out loud. I smiled. Conner was closed to the gym door but then he stopped. I groaned and opened the door. "What?" I said. "The bleachers are going up." He said. "Yeah so, maybe the janitor is still cleaning here." "Yeah but the bleachers are only put up after games and we have a game tommorow." He said. "Ok let's just go." I said. We walked to the doors. I grabbed the handle and tried to open it. "Oh come on, please don't tell me it's locked." I said. "What?!" Connor said. He tried opening the door then he banged on it. "Hello?! The door is locked!" He shouted. No answer. "Damnit!" He said. "Can we just call someone?" I said. "Yeah, I'll call my friend, hopefully he could get the door open....do you hear that?" He said. "Hear what?" I asked. A whirring sound was coming through the gym. At first I thought it was the bleachers but they were up moments ago. We looked around but we didn't see anything. I looked up and noticed a shining dot near the window. "Conner?" "Yeah?" "What is that?" Conner peered up at the window near the ceiling. "I don't know, maybe it's a light bouncing off of it." "But it's getting changing letters.....and why is it pointing this way-" ZAP! Everything went dark. Darker than the creepy old gym where detention was held, darker than the hallways on the weekend, darker than the night, and way darker than where the memories I try to shove in the deepest darkest parts of my brain. I woke up. My eyes blinked a couple of times until I sat up with a groan. Conner was still asleep. I slowly got up and ran over to him. "Conner! Conner!" He moved his head to one side, he slowly opened his eyes. He stared up at me. "Aidan?" "What happened?" I gave him some space to sit up. "I have no idea, are you ok?" "Yeah." He groaned. He stood up and I stood up with him. "Where are we?" "I don't know, maybe we're still in the gym?" "What, no, it looks......different." "Where's my bag?" "I don't- oof!" I hit something that sent me falling backwards. "Aidan?! Are you ok?" "Yeah." I groaned. I sat up and searched for whatever I hit. I stared up, and up and up, until I recognized the object was tall. It was the size of a building. I crawled away quickly. "What is that thing?!" Conner walked over and looked at the object. He was shocked but he was more shocked when he recognized what it was. "What is it?" "It's.....it's my bag." I sat up and noticed the woven material and the logo that was plastered on the sports bag. "It is your bag, but how?!" "It grew in size." "But mines didn't, and you still have your backpack." "So how do you explain it getting so big?" "I don't know!" I sighed. "We still must be in the gym." 'There's no way, then where's the room, huh?" "It's here we just have to look." We looked around and only saw a vast horizon of orange which could be the floor. I looked up and noticed one of the rows of the bleacher. I gasped. "Conner?" "Yeah?" "Look up." "What?" "Just do it." Conner stared up and noticed the bleachers that were put which were now gigantic in size. He started up further and saw how huge the basketball hoop was. If it was that big, it would be easier to win games....or maybe harder, considering how far it was. "Conner.....I think we shrunk."
