"I'm leaving. I need to go home," Aurora said. She turned to start walking when Matthew called to her.

"May I come with you?" Matthew asked. Aurora froze at those words. She slowly turned around, her beak was clacking a bit.

"Why did my hearts jump like that?" she though. "Why do you want to? I might kill you there," she replied.

"Well, I have no where else to go," Matthew answered, "All I have is the clothes on my body and my employer is dead, so I can't expect payment for the week. So may I?"

"I want to say yes," Aurora thought, "He's been kind to me, even though we're so different. I just want to keep him so I know there are some good humans, unlike what mom taught me." Aurora covered her beak with her hand. "Oh no, if I do bring him back mom will kill him for sure. Or she'll make me do it. I can't take him with me, but I want to. I also want to ask mom about why she lied to me." Aurora looked down at Matthew. "Look Human," she said, "I can't take you with me. If I do, you may die. Why don't you stay here and I may visit you again, maybe later today or tomorrow."

"All right," Matthew said, "Oh, and thanks for worrying about my life." Aurora smiled as best she could and walked off. After a little while, she found her wound had healed enough to allow her to fly.

"I really hope I can see him again," Aurora thought as she flew home to her waiting mother.

Will the mother suspect something?
