Grip is tight, Leon is coming out

The tug of war between the gryphon and Shade continued for a few minutes with Shade slowly but surely gaining ground on the gryphon. Leon had become completely slick with saliva and Shade had wrapped his tongue around Leon while he pulled at him. At a distance it looked like some kind of complicated kissing effort was being undertaken between Shade and the gryphon.

Finally the gryphon slipped up for a second and Shade wasted no time in pulling Leon completely out of the gryphon's mouth and stepping back.

"Yeah! I'm free!" Leon yelled as he saw the forest once more even though he was still halfway into Shade's mouth.

But the victory was short-lived as Leon saw the gryphon lunging for him once again, determined to stuff him down its throat.

Shade on the other hand used his tongue to pull Leon completely into his mouth and closed it. The gryphon was disappointed by this but it figured the dragon would have to let out the human it was protecting at some point. The two stood there for a few minutes while Shade thought of what to do next.

He could probably fly away from the gryphon and let Leon out in a safer place but then the gryphon might chase after and catch Leon again. On the other hand he could chase the gryphon away with his fire breath but then he would have to convince Leon to let him swallow him first, wouldn't want to roast his rider.
