Marissa wiggled to get comfy on her couch. This report was kind of interesting.
The newswoman droned on. "Why do Americans continue to get pleasantly plump? It's no surprise, as we continue to pack on the pounds, food companies supersize their meals to try and attract hungry customers."
The screen flashed to a pretty, chubby woman in her early 30's. There was a toothy grin between her full cheeks. "I love to eat," she said happily. "I've gained a lot of weight, but I'm happy, and I'm not going on a diet, there are so many good things to eat! I love to fill my body with all the new, delicious foods that come out. And people say I look good! Men appreciate my appetite!"
Newswoman again. "Even children and teens are buying into the "bigger is better" phenomenon, and have the girth-enhanced waistlines to prove it."
A girl no older than 13 was seated on a bench in the mall, surrounded by other girls smiling at the camera. None were even medium-sized, and a few looked like "mondo obese" in training. "It's hard being thin," she told the camera, "And some people won't talk to you if you're too small. They think you're stuck up or don't eat or something."
Marissa frowned. She was getting hungry, and all she had was a few lousy packs of Ramen.
"And there you have it. Fast-food companies are fattening us up like hogs or cows, lining us up to be feed, and reaping the profits of our scale-busting, over-fed, gluttonous lifestyles." More footage of fat people being fat. Words like "scale-busting" were punctuated by things like a shot of a particuarly jiggly jelly belly, a shaky set of thunder thighs, or some rotund person stuffing their face. "Americans are growing juicy and plump off all sorts of delectable treats cooked up by a profit-hungry corporate America, turning us into large, soft blobs of gooey, creamy, sugar-and-fat filled dumplings. All those tasty, fattening meals, coursing around inside every American body, causing us to, as a nation, become like the treats we can't seem to get enough of. I'm- "
Marissa couldn't care less about who this annoying twit was. She was starving by now.
