Nikki woke up to find herself laying on the cold counter top of her boyfriend's kitchen. Everything around her was gargantuan, and with a wave of dread and fear, she realized that she had been shrunken to only three inches tall. Tears filled her icy blue eyes. She couldn't believe that Rick would do this to her.

She had met him at a party a few months ago, and the two had been going steady since then. She loved him absolutely, and thought he felt the same, and so she had divulged to him her deepest secret, that she did not have the power.

At twenty two, she was already a miracle case. Very few who didn't have the power made it into adulthood, and two of her sisters had already been devoured. She was a lucky girl, up until now.

She looked around the kitchen, wondering what was to become of her. Surely Rick wouldn't really eat her, not after all they had shared together. He must be playing with her, she thought. Yes, that had to be it. It was just some little game he had cooked up.

She smiled as Rick entered the kitchen. He smiled back at the tiny form of his girlfriend. But something in his smile made Nikki uneasy. There was no warmth in it, and his dark eyes glittered hungrily.

"Good morning, Rick!" She called up to him. Her tiny voice was barely audible, but he could make it out.

"Morning, my yummy little morsel," his booming voice said chillingly above her, as he licked his lips...
