Simba couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed in him after the spirit met him and said that strange, nonsensical curse. Slowly, his mind was thinking increasingly of food, and his stomach suddenly began to growl. "Hoo, boy," he said to himself, "better get something to eat, I'm starving."
The lion quickly ran to the nearest patch of rainforest he could find, desperate for a stream, in whose swampland he could find some bugs. He was too hungry to stand taking down a zebra; Nala usually took care of that stuff anyway, and he didn't trust what'd happen if he screwed up. As he overturned a log, he knew he'd made the right decision. The downed tree was hiding a two-foot deep pit teeming with insects he'd never seen before. They were all different colors, no two colored the same. Simba picked one up to investigate it. It was about half an inch thick, and squishy, too. He popped it in his mouth; it was a fruity sensation he had never tasted before and couldn't get enough of. The lion laid down next to the trough, sticking his face right into the trough to bite into a mouthful. It was the best thing he'd ever tasted. Timon and Pumbaa would be so jealous. As he took another bite, then another, Simba began to feel ecstacy, the taste of the bugs spreading through his body, creating a tingling sensation. This only left the lion to chew away harder and faster, eager to get more of his fix. After another few minutes, the lion sat back, in awe of the bliss. Sighing, he put his paws on his stomach... which was a lot bigger than he remembered.
Simba took a moment to think, then opened his eyes. Yep, that was definitely his tummy, and yep, it was about four inches larger in every direction. He turned off his back, taken aback at the extra difficulty that action asked of him. Padding over to the stream, he checked his reflection. His cheeks had rounded out a bit, while his chin had began to acquire a second one. Checking out his body, he saw he had definitely gained weight, at least a hundred pounds. As the bugs' drug-like effect wore off, the lion felt sudden pangs he couldn't comprehend. If he had just gained a hundred pounds, making him a pretty large lion, he shouldn't want to eat more bugs... but their juicy allure was starting to make his mouth water.
