Felines and Lupines raced out of the camp when they saw the light of the shrink ray, they wanted to see what was going on and maybe even be a part of it. For most of them, the light looked cool, pretty and had to be a part of some ultra-awesome-amazing game. It wasn't too far to the village either, a couple miles but even for kids, animals were pretty fast runners. Pretty quickly, footprints of barefoot kids filled the mud, four toes and one center pad holding all the weight and claws to dig in and make traction.
The spec ops team, charged with the defensive role, followed the kids from the shadows. Any threats would end up neutralized with deadly force and on top of that, they did need recon on that bright flash, whatever it was. Quiet as mice, but not their targets, the wolves moved on in the back of the pack and in places where no one would ever see them.
The kids had a blast, racing to where the village should have been, their short legs and little feet propelling them as absolutely fast as they could. It wasn't far now until they would reach the edge of the village to see what was up. They were already near-by and already a few felines were recieving shocks when they saw what looked like four mountains slam into the ground near-by and another five in the distance before taking off to hit again farther away.
In the village, the shrinking had taken the whole place and packed it into a spot that was barely a spec. When it receded, the grass and trees were sucked into the void left by the receding buildings. It made it seem that the village had never existed. In the village, four hundred thousand cats looked out of their city at stalks of grass that didn't reach their digitigrade ankles minutes ago now passed into the sky far over their home.
