Zen catches you taking a peek at your schedule. Out of the corner of your eye you could see him squinting a little before his eyes widened in recognition. It was fairly impressive that the big lion could actually read print that small. "Ah yes, Sizechanging is the first class of the day. Should be fun!"
"Yeah, sure," you say. He must have picked up on your apprehension, because he roared out a laugh in response.
"Don't worry human. It won't be anything too intense for your first day. You'll just get a good show is all." You can feel the rumble of his voice against your legs, and the way his chest expands with more than a little pride. It was kind of endearing, but didn't do all that much to help you with your nervousness.
"The show's been pretty good so far from where I'm sitting. You guys are like, crazy big." You find yourself blushing even as you say that, and your skin darkens even more when Zen actually begins to purr at the statement. Out of the corner of your eye you can see him wink at you, his muzzle splitting into a big grin that displayed dark black lips and huge, pointed white teeth.
"Just you wait, little guy. You haven't seen anything yet!"
You clutch a patch of Zen's mane as he walks around the edge of the school building to the football field out back. His fur is thick there, but not aggressively so -- he's young enough for his mane not to have fully grown in. He doesn't seem to mind as you get a grip so you can look out at the football field.
Already you can see an enormous tiger towering over the goalposts on one side of the field. Judging from the size of the goal posts -- the tops of which only reach mid-thigh -- you'd have to say he was at least 100 feet tall. His tail flicked behind him as the students gathered in front of him along the end zone, each dwarfed by the enormous cat.
"Oh my God," you say, and you find yourself clutching Zen's mane a little tighter. He chuckles softly.
"Oh, that's just Mr. Hansforth. Don't worry about him; he looks intimidating, and he is a little demanding, but he's a really nice guy as long as you follow the rules." The lion sounds so nonchalant about a tiger the size of a ten-story building looking down at them, but it's the first time you've ever seen such a thing. It's definitely going to take some getting used to.
"Ahhh, Zen," the big cat booms, narrowing his eyes. "So good of you to join us. And I see that you've brought our esteemed human with you." It was hard to tell whether the tiger was being genuinely friendly or somewhat snide. His expression was predatory but unreadable beyond that.
"Yes sir," the lion says, falling into line with the other students. They all look at you curiously. It's a little unnerving being the center of attention in a group full of anthros the size of buildings.
"Excellent," Mr. Hansforth purrs. "Please set him down on the ground. Human, once you're safely standing you will take a spot to my left. That's the safest place to be for class."
You can't help but bristle a bit at the set of instructions. One hundred feet tall or no, Mr. Hansforth was being kind of rude. You do have a name, after all. Still, considering this is your first day, you decide not to push anything. You simply nod and jog towards the looming tiger once Zen sets you down. He looks at you precisely as if you were a mouse darting across his field of vision. If you didn't know any better, you would swear that he had to resist the urge to pounce.
"Very well, then. It is time for roll call. When you hear your name spoken, please remark 'present'. Zen?"
"Present!" the lion calls. He flicks his tail from side to side as he turns to look at you. You know by now that he's giving you a friendly look, but those teeth are awfully large and sharp.
"Melody?"
"Present!" To the left of Zen was a vixen, slightly shorter than him at 17 feet high or so. She was quite...well-developed for someone her age. Her russet and white fur seemed to accentuate the curves that she was growing into, her chest and hips flaring out from her narrow waist. She watches you as well, her slitted pupils narrowing just a bit. There's no way to tell what she might be thinking.
"Towe?"
"Present!" To the left of her was a wolf as tall as Zen and even wider than the lion, if that was possible. He spares a glance at you before turning to face his instructor, his voice and demeanor boasting his confidence as well as his willingness to follow directions. Still, he looked like he could be a handful if he ever decided to be aggressive.
"Ogden?"
"Present!" The rat next to Towe was thin but ripped; lean muscle showed through his grey fur, and every movement he made suggested a quick mind and lightning-sharp reflexes. His dark brown eyes shine as he looks towards you, his whiskers twitching as if he can make out your scent from where he's standing. He comes only to the wolf's shoulder, about the height of Melody.
"Nash?"
"Present." Another rat, this one with the same fur color and bare paws that Ogden sported. She was female and surprisingly heavy-set, as motherly as Ogden was lithe. Still, she wore her weight well, and by the ever-present smile creasing her muzzle another friendly sort. It occurs to you that she and the other rat might be siblings, though you're not sure if that's because it's so hard to tell anthros apart. Best to keep those thoughts to yourself, at least until you get to know everyone better.
"Kendra?"
"Present!" The next student was a very large horse, as thick as Melody in the hips and chest but quite strong on top of that. She looked like she could match the guys in brawn and stamina easily. Her mane flowed down over one light brown eye, and the other was directed at you. She tossed her head and flicked her tail in what you can only assume is a friendly gesture. Good thing, too, because she was several feet taller than Zen.
"And Adjulowa?"
"Present." The elephant thunders the one word, and you felt the rumble of his voice where you stood. He was absolutely immense -- he rose above the goal posts with several feet to spare, while everyone save for Kendra would have to jump to reach the top of it. His big ears were the size of sail's ships, and his body was nothing short of monstrous, with a great deal of muscle and fat. He wore clothes, just like everyone else, but he looked like he was threatening to burst out of them every time he took a breath. He flicked his ears and looked at you evenly, then back at Mr. Hansforth.
"Very good," the teacher purrs. "You're all here. Since this is the first day for our new classmate, I thought today would be a good day to review our lesson from the very first week." The class responded with various sounds of consternation, which all ceased when the tiger held up a massive paw. "But! If you perform this pop quiz perfectly, I will declare Friday a free period."
He grinned as the gathered anthros looked at each other, astonished. They took a few moments to compose themselves, then looked resolutely up at their teacher. Whatever this free period was, it was a pretty big deal.
Mr. Hansforth, satisfied that he had secured their cooperation, continued. "Very well. I would like all of you to grow half again your smallest height at the first speed. I will know if you've gone over that height, and I will know if you've moved too quickly." He held up what looked like a car. To him, it was no bigger than a garage door remote. He stared down at the smaller students, his tail twitching behind him. "Begin."
