In his skepticism, Alex didn't really consider the specific instructions the paper had given him, and immediately began to craft his wish. "I want to be the size of a flea!" He laughed to himself at the absurdity of the idea, but then immediately felt the pendant getting hot, and burning against his skin. He immediately pulled the pendant off of his neck and threw it across the room, but no sooner had he done so, would he begin to feel very strange, like gravity was pulling on him harder than ever. He closed his eyes, and felt as if he was going to throw up, before falling unconscious for a moment.
Normally the pendant didn't have such strong side effects, but Alex had never encountered the size change before, and his size was reduced so dramatically, he couldn't handle it. Now, as he came back to consciousness, he found himself buried in a world of darkness. Above him, a patterned sky prevented any light from finding him, and all around, tall, thick trees that looked strange and synthetic. Pushing through the weird forest area, he found his way from under whatever it was that he become the sky, to find himself in day light again. With light all around, it became very obvious that he had indeed become the size of a flea. The forest was the carpet of his home, and the thing he had been under was his own flannel shirt.
Naked, scared, and alone, Alex regretted his wish, and now even more regretted tossing the pendant across the room.
