SEELE the most mysterious and intimidating organization on the face of the planet and Gendo Ikari sat there silent, unnerved. In a lot of ways Ikari was perhaps the only one who could face such a group with such a straight unmoving face.
"You have done well, Ikari. The children seem to be having no problem eliminating the angels."
"But they should be able to do such a feat at a much faster more effective rate."
"Especially the first child. She is your creation as such she should be perfect...and yet it seems at times your actual child surpasses her limitations. Do you wish for even the second to surpass her?"
Though he acknowledged them the senior Ikari said nothing in response. Soon enough the meeting was over...
The phone housed within Dr. Ritsuko Akagi's office buzzed uncontrollably alerting the blonde woman of the incoming call. A moment later she has the receiver to her ear.
"I see...I understand I'll run a test just to insure it's safety ('Even if it failed she could easily be brought back so why the worry?') if everything comes out as it should I'll inform you of the outcome at a later date."
The next day after the testing the children seem to go through every other day or so, Rei is approached by Dr. Akagi.
"Rei, if I could have an extra moment of your time. I'd like for you to come back with me to my office."
Silently the blue-haired girl nods, "Understood, Doctor Akagi." Before long the two walk away from Shinji and Asuka.
For a moment Shinji feels the need to ask the reason behind Ritsuko's sudden request. As the raven-haired boy takes a step forward Asuka places an extended arm in his path.
"Stop right there, Shinji. Why are you worried about Wondergirl all of a sudden?"
Asuka's comment caused the boy blush slightly, a smirk accompanied by a bit of a snicker leaves the redhead's lips.
"Ritsuko's a doctor for god's sake. It's not like she's going to hurt her. Though why she'd choose Ayanami over me is well beyond me..." wondered the quite curious Asuka.
"You don't even know what she wants with Ayanami. Why should you care?"
A bad choice of words as the redhead's right eye twitched, "It doesn't matter I'm the superior pilot. Obviously anything special or top secret should head my way!"
Shinji sighed as the enraged girl continued to rant onward, he could only hope Rei wouldn't take too long...
Within Akagi's office room Rei takes a seat directly across the doctor's desk.
"This won't take long, Rei. Simply make yourself comfortable."
Gently Ritsuko begins to apply a tiny portion of alcohol to Rei's slender neck.
"Doctor?" "Don't fret Rei, under the Commander's order you are to test a body enhancement serum." stated the older woman.
"Are steroids not dangerous for one's own being?" questions Rei.
"Oh this isn't like that it's our own personally-crafted formula. I assure you, this shall not bring about the ill effects commonly associated with steroids. Now hold still."
Rei wasn't sure how she felt about this unknown substance entering her body but she trusted in the Commander's decision, thus allowed herself to go along with his order.
Slowly but surely the chemical entered her blood stream. Afterwards there was strange sensation coursing through her very being, as if some new force was dismantling then reconstructing the outer and inner frame of body.
Grabbing a strong grip upon the handles of the chair she sat in, Rei felt her world spin, her breathing quickly intensifying. Despite her best efforts the young girl couldn't seem to bring even a simple word out of her lips.
"Relax Rei it will be all over soon. Believe me when I say this will not kill you. You must simply bare with the after-affects for a little while longer." stated Ritsuko, a trusting look in her eyes.
