This choice: You hold onto the shoe -- but the gun goes flying. • Go Back...Chapter #7A Millimeter Tall and Losing the Gun by: rockstatic Your fantasies, it turns out, were not real preparation for being a hundredth of an inch tall. Using the stitch under this titanic woman's bow to keep you in place, you finally fully understand what it means to be a tiny person attached to a giant: everything they experience, you feel a thousand times over. As the woman walks, climbs stairs, bumps into things, or occasionally hits her toe, you're inevitably confronted with a thrashing back and forth that make you feel like you're about to be tossed into the ether of a world several degrees of magnitude too big for you to comprehend. Constant thoughts of terror consume you, as you're sure that any moment is going to mark your doom, but your waist is securely positioned under the giant stitch, and it doesn't look like you're actually going to fall off.
Still, this decision is proving a disaster, as your head is killing you and your stomach is so nauseous that you can't go more than thirty seconds at a time without heaving up anything you've got left in there. So you keep revising your plan, first from staying with this woman as long as possible to finding a way off her once she and this dude she's with sit down for a drink. Then you decide you should shoot yourself with a gun, to either enlarge or transform yourself, as soon as she stops walking. Then you realize in a panic that you're starting to pass out. You have a vague thought of reaching for the gun, but you fade out. Everything turns to black.
You wake up what feels like a week later, but you see you're still stuck in the stitch of the shoe. Nothing seems to be moving, so you ease your way out from under the stitch, ready to step past the enormous bow on her shoe and take a look around. But as you do, you make a horrific discovery: the gun is gone! It must have slipped away from you after you passed out, but now you have no sense of where it could have fallen off, and at a fraction of your one-millimeter height, there is no way you or anyone else could ever find it. A chill goes down your spine. You're this height forever.
You decide that you'll make contact with this woman. You would have liked to avoid her, but you'll need help even to survive. With new resolve, you climb up past the bow and look out at an alien world leagues beyond your comprehension. You can make out tables and chairs in what looks like an apartment, but the dimensions are so far beyond your scope that you have to look down at your feet for a few seconds. It's almost too much.
You take another look around with a bit of a level head, and you see that you're in the entryway to an apartment, standing on an empty shoe. The woman has evidently gone home and taken her shoes off. Right as you start to wonder what she must be doing, you feel a rumble that soon turns into loud thumping noises, and then you see the most astonishing sight of your life, as this monumentally sized woman enters the room. As soon as you see her, you do a double-take. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
