The jock steps closer and closer to the sandals, then stops. Then without warning, he grabs both and picks them up.

Practically in midair, you cling desperately to the notched rubber of the sandals surface.

The jock opens his locker and with no care about his extra passenger, tosses the sneakers in. Then he slams the door.
