Nick immediately reacts. He releases his arms from their closeness to his chest and treads water. He slowly sinks in the cold liquid, so he kicks to push skyward.
He reaches the surface and gasps for fresh air. His eyes sting a little bit, so he hesitates opening them.
Ultimately he does.
The surrounding pool is pinkish-red, with some degree of thickness. Surrounding him is a tall 20-foot circular white wall. He looks up and sees the scruffy chin of a giant. His throat bobs as he enguages and deafening conversation.
Nick realizes he missed his easiest target and landed in a death trap.
