Nothing is more unpredictable than time. Nothing more dangerous than trying to control it.

Drop Zone Gamma

Diana glanced confusedly around the hydroponic farm. It looked like a giant greenhouse, complete with giant green plants. She suddenly felt small. But there was no time for idle thought - the recruits were here!

"Huh, welcome to Gamma Squad, ladies and gentlemen. I'm Diana Paene, Squad Leader. Listen, we're on a rather serious mission - a friend of mine, Blake Remora, has gotten himself into a spot of trouble. We're not sure what, exactly, but it's possible he's been incapacitated... or worse. Just, try not to do anything stupid, 'kay?"

Diana tried to smile, but it struck even her as a sad attempt.

"Now I'd like to run through our equipment. First we have our comm devices, mounted on our forearms." She tapped the metal wristband on her arm. "It basically allows you to communicate with the other members of your squad - as well as Gamma Controller back at HQ - and receive mission updates if or when they arise. It also has a rudimentary map of the area built-in, complete with flashing dots showing your squad mates' positions. It's probably your most important piece of equipment - treat it well, folks."

"This..." Diana pulled a gun out of her holster and held it for the group to see. "Is a phase pistol. It's not like conventional weaponry - it's more of a hand-held time machine: whatever you hit is sent to Keeper HQ to be evaluated, and 'erased'. Just point and shoot - simple as that. It's non-lethal, yet gets the job done, and allows us to keep track of your targets."

"Lastly..." she holstered her phase pistol and gestured at the silvery, skin-tight suits. "Is our uniforms. They're called Chameleon Suits - we see them as they are, but while active they actually project a holographic image of regular clothes worn in this particular dimension. In effect, they allow us to blend in. You can also activate an optic camouflage mode with that little blue button on your wristband, which bends the light around you and makes you invisible to the naked eye. But it drains the battery fast, so try not to use it too much, okie dokie?"

Diana glanced around, determination in her eyes. "Now, let's split up and find Blake."
