Chapter #7

Bring back a bad memory

    by: Unknown
Megan was scared as her mother smiled at her. Her words could mean anything. The only thing she knew was that it wasn’t going to end well for her.

“Well have fun, I’m assuming you are taking it to the special room for bugs?” Megan’s father asked. Sandra nodded and started to walk back into the house with Megan in hand. Though they weren’t specific, the shrunken girl had an idea on where her mother was heading. Just before her mother walked into the house though, she saw something on the ground.

“Hm? What’s this doing here? Someone could step on it.” Megan’s mother said, bending down to pick it up. As she did, Megan realized that it was the ring, it gave her a little hope now that she knew where it was (even though her mother now had it). Sandra put the ring on and continued inside.

Within a few minutes, Megan saw where they were heading:the garage. She and her sibling had been told to never go in there when either of their parents were working, though they didn’t really know what they did in there.

Megan was able to remember one time though that she snuck in. It was 3 years ago and had been night time when Megan had gotten a bit curious. When she went in there, her mother happened to be in there as well. Megan could remember that her mother seemed to be drunk that night. When she went in there, her mother spotted her pretty quickly, but wasn’t angry.

“Oh… hey Megan. Did you want to see mommy work? I’m taking care of… *hic*… another prisoner.” She said. Megan walked up to her. They stood next to a table with a saw blade and a conveyor belt attached. Her father had told her it was to cut wood. However this was a bug on the conveyor belt. Her mother giggled as she turned it on and watched the bug get carried into the blade. Megan on the other hand was a bit startled as the bug was cut in half. When Sandra turned the machine off, her daughter looked at her.

“Is this what you do when you work?” She asked.

“*hic*…yep. I like killing bugs in different ways, it’s kind of fun.” Her mother responded. Suddenly, she turned her head towards her with a creepy smile. “Say…*hic* I wonder what it’s like to see you cut up.” Megan became scared as her mother picked her up and put her on the conveyor belt. The girl immediately grabbed her mother’s hand.

“Wait! I don’t want to be cut up, you’ll kill me.”

“Don’t…*hic* worry. I’ll put you back together. Now hold still or else this will get messy.” Her mother started to reach for the on switch.

“Please, can you at least wait till morning? I’m sure dad would like to watch.”

“Well…*hic*…all right. I suppose it can wait till tomorrow.” Her mother said, taking her off the table. The two of them went to bed without anyone else waking up. During the night, Megan had a nightmare of her mother cutting her up and laughing about it. She never mentioned it to anyone. In the morning, her mother had no memory of what happened last night, which Megan was grateful for.

When her mother carried her into the garage, that scary memory came back to her. She really hoped she didn’t end up like the bug from three years ago.

“Welcome to my special chamber for bugs like you. There are quite a few options on how to deal with you. Let’s see, which one shall I choose.” Sandra pondered. Megan tried yelling to get her attention, but she didn’t seem to hear it.
