Before Ethan could respond to Kevin’s question, Jaden piped up since he was floating around. Kevin had made him completely weightless, and the boy was becoming nervous since the wind was kicking up.
“Whaah!” Jaden cried out, as he was blown away and carried along until he stopped a few feet away from where they were sitting. “Kevin! Can you please put me back on the ground?”
“You better add his weight back before he gets blown away!” Ethan said.
“Okay, Jaden. You’re no longer weightless!” Kevin ordered.
Jaden, who was floating a few feet above the ground, suddenly dropped out of the air and fell on the grass.
“Oww…. Thanks! It feels good to touch the ground again!” Jaden mumbled, as he stood up and walked back to his empty chair, where the other boys were seated.
“Oh, I know!” Ethan spoke up. “If you can make Jaden weightless, can you shrink me down? To, like, action figure size?”
The boys all laughed when Ethan said that, but Kevin remained serious.
“Sure! Just stand over here, in the middle of the circle so we can all see you!” Kevin ordered.
Ethan got up and stood right before Kevin, with Jaden and Troy looking on. Everything seemed normal for a few seconds, when something strange seemed to occur. Was Ethan shrinking?
Ethan had normally been the tallest boy in the group, but he was suddenly shorter than all of them. Not only was his body dwindling down gradually, but his clothes were shrinking along with him.
“Hey! What the heck? He’s shorter than me!” Jaden remarked.
“Oh, wow! He’s shrinking… For real!” Troy exclaimed.
From Ethan’s point of view, the world around him appeared to be growing at an increasing rate. Not only was the house and the chairs and the gazebo becoming noticeably bigger, but his friends were becoming like giants to him! Ethan had always looked down on Troy and Jaden and now he had to crane his neck to look up… Way up at his friends, who appeared to be getting bigger and bigger with every passing moment!
When the shrinking spell stopped, Ethan was no taller than an astounding six inches, or the height of an action figure!
Suddenly, two giant sneakers approached him. As he looked up, large legs bent down and he saw two giant knees sticking out above him. Finally, Jaden's head stuck out from above his knees and a giant hand came down.
“Oh, wow! Look at him! He’s tiny! Here, step on my hand, Ethan!” a booming voice spoke from high above him.
Ethan carefully stepped on the giant hand, which rapidly raised him up to the height of what felt like that of a skyscraper. As he looked up, he saw the giant face of Jaden, his best friend, looking down on him.
“Awww… He’s just an action figure, for real!” Jaden grinned.
Jaden sat down in his chair as he held the miniature Ethan in the palm of his hand. Ethan just sat down and took in the view of his giant friends. It was scary at first, but eventually, the tiny boy felt excited to be surrounded by his giant friends.
“Aww… Look at Ethan! He’s so tiny!” Troy smiled, as he looked over Jaden’s shoulder.
“Man, this must be so cool!” Jaden grinned, holding his tiny friend in his hand.
Kevin allowed the boys the time to admire his handiwork as they looked on at Ethan, who had magically become the world’s smallest boy.
Then, after a few minutes, the boys looked up at Kevin and said…
