"Bankruptcy..." you half-murmur to yourself as you feel a twinge of empathy, and fear.
"Oh, that's right. You were quite the merchant before that quest." Jessock smirks. "Yes... A bankrupt man is one who's too dumb to manage his own finances." Nodding as he talks, you can see he agrees with this tough judgement.
"They'll be much happier, being women, and free from those overwhelming responsibilities."
His voice harsh and gravelly, you realise the speech is for the Bankrupt, who must still be fighting her situation.
A cruel smile splits his face, "I've skewered her myself, and made her sing for my pleasure." he boasts, taunting her. "It's hard to see a man, when you've seen her lisp stretched around your cock, as it pistons in and out. She enjoys her new, lower state! Her proper place!" His final words coming out as a vitriolic fury.
His anger is amusing, and you jab him, just a little. "Are her debts discharged?" you ask. "Would she be restored, and grateful, if her debtors were repaid?" you ask, curious but skeptical.
"Then you'd have had a man..." you allow your voice to trail off, allow him to complete it in the echoing silence.
A smile flickers briefly over one of the white-clad women's faces. Before, her head dips again. The pain of hope clear in her eyes... Unless you imagined it.
She winces, a lone tear trickling down her cheek.
A snarl appears on Jessock's face. "No! She's a woman, and her soul has been banished. Such a question, raises its own doubts about your intelligence, and possible womanly, wooly thinking." His eyes cold as flints, as he glares at you. Daring you to continue this conversation.
"A man can risk greatly to increase his wealth, but a foolish woman is soon revealed." Jessock draws a deliberate line under the conversation.
