Using my favorite monochrome function, I took this picture of a somewhat burned rose and made it into my Anti-Valentine's Day sig. It's not my best work, but it subtlely conveys a very bitter and sarcastic message about mid-winter commercialism.
The photograph was taken in late February last year in Port Mayaca. I really wanted to get a picture of a burning rose, but even after a week of drying the thing out, it still wouldn't catch a spark long enough for me to get a picture. The bottle in which the rose sits (which I slightly retooled) was a Budweiser bottle I found on the concrete deck by the canal. In this shot, I had yet to try burning the rose as it sat in the bottle.
