3 Ears of NA "Heritage Corn"
NATIVE AMERICAN "3 SISTERS" GARDENS

In April of 2009 I planted a small patch of about 25 Native American "Heritage Dent Corn". I had 20 corn seedlings that grew up to more than 10 feet tall with the corn and harvested five "green corn" which we boiled or microwaved in clear wrap for eating.

I also harvested 20 ears of dry corn and presently I am drying them for seeds.  Any member of the tribe who would like 25 to 30 seeds from this corn (it's the tri-color corn that many White Eyes use only for decoration, now realizing it's edible) Need only to contact me. I'll give you my snail mail address and if you send me a self addressed envelope with 61 cents in US Postage affixed, I'll send you the seeds in about two weeks along with directions how to plant the corn in the traditional NA "Three Sisters" style (corn, beans and squash).

This planting method allows for corn to be grown year after year in the same plot without adding any fertilizers outside of some mulch and was used throughout much of the USA by Native Americans when the first Europeans arrived. The White Eyes insisted on "mono-culture" plantings despite tests that have shown the NA method produced much more vegetables for identical sized plots...and a LOT less work.
