| Among the different types of static items on Writing.Com, poetry and short stories generally receive the lion's share of the attention. With only a small fraction of my portfolio devoted to these mediums of expression, I am more than aware of the disparity in number of reviews between them and most of the rest of my works. It is because of this inequality that I often seek out more neglected forms of writing. One I am particularly fond of is essays. This page is devoted to the promotion of essays within Writing.Com. Essays needn't necessarily be of the "essay" item type. They could also be articles, columns, critiques, editorials, or theses, to name a few. Most generally, essays come in three types: narrative, informative, and argumentative. Even essays not necessarily considered "persuasive," however, often directly reflect the thoughts and opinions of their authors. |
