Why does romantic rejection hurt? For a newsletter.
Why does romantic rejection hurt?

Does it hurt more (or less) than, say, professional rejection?
(Since we're a writing site, this might mean an editor rejecting your manuscript.)

Does the hurt of a romantic rejection last longer than other types of rejection?

How does one get over a romantic rejection?

What hurts more -- going through romantic rejection yourself, or watching a friend / family member go through it?

Does it hurt more if you've been with the person for a while and then break off, or if the person rejects you to start with?

Anything else you'd like to say about romantic rejection.

Romantic rejection always hurts because it's so personal. When we present ourselves to someone and ask to be loved for who we are, it is devastating when any part or all of us is told we are not good enough. But we live...and perhaps,,,even love again.

I think ErinLynn's right. It is personal because to love is to trust and to have our trust betrayed is devastating. It makes us question our thinking and ourselves. I think we do as much harm to ourselves as the other may have inflicted.
