Pope Joan, 855AD. A woman was nominated to the Vatican. This is denied by the church, despite evidence to the contrary. There were many cover-ups, but no one can deny that she gave birth during a religious procession, in 857 AD. She was accused of witchcraft and Pope Joan was stoned to death. Her heels were tied to a horse and she was dragged through the streets of Rome
