Although you state the entries are to be “stories,” your contest does not cite specific rules for the content of the piece submitted. I have a piece that I might submit, but it is more of a snapshot than an actual short story. By that I mean it has no developing plot line. It is merely a development of a theme; a sequence of events in a bar. Does your contest require a developed plot, with a beginning, middle and end, or could my piece be considered a qualified entry? Perhaps I should save this piece for something else, but perhaps you should also be more specific in the rules, with a definition of what you mean by “story.” And perhaps what I should really do, is turn my piece into a story by extending it and developing it into a true story.
