i love your horror of her wanting to use hot irons on your hair!!! I use straightening irons on mine to get it smooth and sleek looking, but i use a heat protection conditioning spray on it first. I'm big on conditioners... i've got ones for all occasions; smoothing, volumising, normal, fruity smelling, spray in ones, leave in ones, wash out ones. I seem to be a shampoo and condition addict! *giggles*

I have't had my hair cut for over a year either, but I twist sections of my hair and if I have any split ends, they'll stick out of the twists and I just snip them off, which keeps my hair looking smooth and healthy (or wavy and healthy, depending on if i blow dry it or not.)

I'm sure your hair isn't short at all. I bet it's fine and besides, a good trim can do your hair the world of good and the average person's hair gows about an inch each month anyway, so I'm sure you won't notice it after a while and it'll be fine.
