WOW! That wasn't an easy one! But here goes...Richard Childress was the last driver in the #3 car before Dale Sr. He was an independant driver for 8 full season's before he gave it up to Dale Sr in 1981. Childress competed in 283 races and finished in the top ten in points five times. After eleven seasons, he ended his career with six top five finishes, and 76 top ten finishes.
