Heh. Well, I'm about 10 pages into it (not 300, unfortunately!). That's half of chapter one. I'm calling it Faery Flight, but that's a very tentative working title. It's a retelling of the faery tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses, put in a modern-day setting with 12 unschoolers who discover, through a rather alarming series of events, that their mother is a faery (making them half faery/half mortal, or, as one rude faery puts it, halfbreeds). Their maternal relations wish to use the daughters' powers in their faery wars, and the daughters just want to get their mother home. Of course, things develop. Someone falls in love. Someone dies. And someone disappears -- for good. I'm not putting any of it up publicly, but I'd be happy to e-mail any of you the pages I've written so far. Just let me know if you want to read it. Comments are very welcome! Oh, and it's not like I'm a genius novelist (well, maybe...smirk). Queen's Ransom wasn't working out on so many levels that I need to leave it for a while. Faery Flight has been in my mind for years, literally. It feels really good to be writing it. By the way, are any of you familiar with the faery tale? ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
