Ohh, Yana! I want to hug you! And I want to grab you, too, Bet! Why do you have to pay double rent? I hatepaying rent with a passion. It's like, every month I think, "Well, there goes another $233.34 from my small savings account!" I only have $1,900 left and I could cry over how frustrated I feel. Actually, yesterday, when Nathan and I were on MSN messenger together, he informed me that he's thinking about spending all next semester...in Zimbabwe! No, kidding; he says that next semester (which begins Januray 15 for him, January 26 for me) he wants to take his classes at the College of the Redwoods in Ft.Bragg, which is right by Mendocino! So that means that I could go home, work at the cafe again (hopefully, because hear me, there are zero jobs here in Eureka!) and save money, as well as take a break from the city life. I'm so, so, so freakin' overwhelmed and happy and high-wired by this that I'm even lessmotivated to do anything! Bet, I got your letter today and it gave me a strange energy, so I think I'll plunge right in and write back today! And bring your letter home with me and continue there. Dark days - I've heard of those! Especially in places like Norway, where it gets dark even sooner. I read that the suicide rates there are higher than in other parts of the world. I thoroughly (can't spell, argh) enjoy rain and storms and hanging around our huge wood-burning stove in Point Arena, but sun definitely has energy radiating from it, and - what is that thing about vitamin D and the sun? What time does it get dark where everyone lives? It got dark here at 5:45 PM yesterday, or maybe it was 5:37. Sometimes it gets dark at 4:00! At least it's full-on cold season now. I don't like the in-between days - you know, mid-October when summer lingers but fall threatens. Wow, I'm posting on and on...how cool! Yana, schat, did you get my letter? Someday, I will learn again how to knit! I think Mum actually has one of those books! I'll ask her about it when I go home (tomorrow! Hoorah!!!). hanging in the doorway like smoke like mistletoe this is where i'll be whenever you come or go |
