Your first "assignment" is to tell a tale from your own, real-life experience - but embellish it. Exaggerate. Make it larger and more outrageous than life. (Here's my own example: "Invalid Item" - every word of this is true, mind you!)
If that's not enough, you can start with the phrase, "A funny thing happened yesterday on aisle 13..."
