Hello fellow writers
Hello all. My name is Eric G. Ekaut and I am new to the Writing.com community. I have always enjoyed writing, but when my father passed away in February of 2024, I discovered the passion and desire deep within myself to master the craft. Ever since I was 16-years old, I have been working to pay the bills. Now I am ready for a career, and hopefully one day, I will be able to write full-time.

Years ago, I wanted to be a sports reporter. From 1993 - 1995, I wrote for a small local newspaper called "The Voice", where I covered local high school sports. After two years, I realized reporting was not for me, and I began writing fiction due to my love for horror and mystery / suspense stories. I studied screenwriting for a small amount of time before I settled on writing short stories and novels.

Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, Michael Connelly, Bentley Little and James Patterson. "11/22/63" and "Misery" are two of my favorites by King and "The Ignored" by Bentley Little was a book I enjoyed very much.

I am originally from Detroit, Michigan and currently reside in Harrison Township, MI, a charter township of Macomb County, north of Detroit.

I am looking forward to meeting fellow writers and establishing relationships within the writing community.
